The Gold Coast art scene is burgeoning and perhaps locale and architecture, the backdrop to our lives and artistic practices, play as important a role in culture as the artists do.
This project, Blank and Blue, is about finding new ways to look at our city. To photograph in a minimalistic style, sites that bear the potential markings of future street art. To find the otherwise mundane, to relocate and recapture it in a different light.
Our photography and Jay’s overlay of abstract art and graphics, the Blank and Blue project presents a society where the integration of art and business is possible. The Southport CBD, a place where art could be woven into its narrative. You may recognise these walls. They may not be iconic, but they could be. They’re white and lost against the blue. They belong to the Coast. They’re ours. They’re blank. And it’s time to look at them like tourists do.
A persons’ self identity is constantly making an ephemeral shift from the person it once was. This is an ongoing process throughout our daily lives. The shift is mostly an unconscious one. Although, there are times when a person makes a conscious shift of a transient nature by letting go of the past forms and making way for a new self. Change can be a daunting concept for people and so in turn, may become hostile towards it.
This work is intended to bring light on the process of change to ones’ identity. In hope that it will no longer be viewed negatively but instead, as a beautiful process that has so many different dimensions to be appreciated.
Transcience Part 2
Part of my transience series addressing people making changes and letting go of past versions of themselves to capture the version of themselves in the moment.
Always be aware of the moment!
Nothing lasts for ever. Through this work we pursue the transient and entertain ideas of existence everlasting. We consider notions of mortality and eternity which lead us to question, does an end embody complete finality or is it actually a beginning?
This multimedia piece explores the ephemeral, often cyclic nature of self and that which surrounds us taking us on a journey of disorientation and affect.
